Sonic the Hedgehog goes way back. He came around in the classic video game and has just hung around and remained popular. This drawing is a little more complex than other cartoon characters, so we’ll have to break it down into six steps instead of five. But don’t worry, Sonic is still easy to draw with simple shapes.
Let’s get ready to Draw Sonic the Hedgehog.
Step 1
Begin the drawing of Sonic the Hedgehog by drawing two circles that slightly overlap. The top circle will become the main shape for Sonic while the bottom circle will become the main part of the body.
Step 2
Next, we’ll draw the distinctive hair and back of Sonic. Start the lines about half way down the front of the first circle that you drew. Bring the line to the back of the body and bring it down the back making smaller triangles as you go down. Also add Sonic’s ears with a couple of simple shapes. Add four lines that come down from the body circle. Be sure to bring the two lines on the right down a little further. The lines will be the legs of Sonic.
Step 3
In this stage of the drawing, you will need to draw the arms and hands of Sonic. It may look a little tricky, but just concentrate on the lines that you see and copy them. Also add the socks that Sonic is wearing.
Step 4
Now we’ll draw some of Sonic’s facial features. Use the picture on the right as a guide and add the mouth, the nose and the outside part of the eyes. Also add a shape for the inside part of the left ear. Go ahead and draw Sonic’s shoes as well.
Step 5
We’ll continue to add some detail to Sonic in this step. Draw two ovals for the pupils of the eyes and add some eyebrows. Also draw a half circle on the belly. Draw some stripes on the shoes too.
Step 6
Now you have enough information to finish the drawing. All that’s left to do now is go over your lines, perhaps with an ink pen. Once the ink is dry, you can erase any pencil lines that might remain. Add some color, if you like. And that’s how easy it is to draw Sonic the Hedgehog, step by step.
