In this step by step drawing tutorial, you will learn how to draw hands. There is a misconception that hands are hard to draw. Hands aren’t hard to draw. Hands are actually very easy to draw. I think the problem comes when people try to draw only the outlines of the hand. This is not the best way to draw a hand. Instead, you shuld think about the simple shapes that make the hand and draw them instead. The best thing about drawing hands is that you have one on the end of your arm to look at, so you always have something to look at.
Step 1
The steps to drawing hands will be the same most of the time. So remember the order in which we draw the hands. The first shape that you need to recognize when drawing hands is the back of the palm. Usually this shape is a square. In this tutorial, the square is a little bit contorted. Most of the time it will be, so look at the shape and draw it as closely as possible. Remember to draw loosely and lightly at the beginning of any drawing.
Step 2
The next shape that we want to draw is a triangle. This triangle will extend out from the square that you drew in the last step. In this tutorial, I am drawing the backside of a left hand. This means that the triangle will be on the right side. We will attach a thumb to it in a minute. Easy enough so far…
Step 3
Now will begin to draw the fingers. Remember-think shapes-not fingers. All of the fingers, except for the thumb, are made up of three segments. In this stage of the drawing, you’ll want to draw only the first segment on each finger. Draw only the shape that you see. Most likely, each finger segment will have a little curve on the end of it.
Step 4
Once you have finished drawing the first segments of the fingers, you’ll want to draw the second segment of fingers. Again, each segment may have a little curve on the end.
Step 5
Now, you’re ready to draw the finger tips. Don’t freak out. The finger tips are just segments. Draw them just as you did with the other finger segments. Just remember that the segments get shorter each time. Don’t forget to draw a curve at the end.
Step 6
Now use the framework of shapes to finish the drawing of the hands. Make some of your lines thicker than others so that you have a variety of line quality. Add fingernails and lines for wrinkles in the fingers. Make sure to overlap your lines in the right places. You can also add value to make your drawing look more realistic. That’s how to draw hands. Easy-right.
